Frequently Asked Questions
Thermage FLX treatments are all about focusing radiofrequency energy to kick start the body’s own natural renewal process. Treatment uses radiofrequency technology to heat the deeper, collagen-rich layers of the skin. The applied heat causes collagen to contract and encourages new collagen to start growing.
What does this mean? It means Thermage FLX can help create smoother skin following a single treatment, with results continuing to improve for up to six months. In consultation with your Thermage FLX provider, you may consider a treatment every 6-12 months as part of your skin rejuvenation program.
How long will the results last?
Most patients can see and feel results immediately after treatment. Continued improvements can occur for up to six months as your body regenerates collagen. Better yet, results are long lasting. See untouched results of Thermage on the face, eyelids and body. For more information, please visit Thermage Results.
How many treatments will I need?
Unlike many cosmetic procedures requiring multiple sessions, Thermage FLX can deliver results after a single treatment. Best of all, results can continue to improve over time. In consultation with your Thermage FLX provider, you may consider a treatment every 6-12 months as part of your skin rejuvenation program.
Does it hurt?
The Thermage FLX system incorporates vibration on the face and body treatments, which has been shown to provide patient comfort. You will feel a brief heating sensation when the treatment device’s tip touches your skin, followed by a cooling sensation to help protect your skin and minimize any discomfort. Throughout the procedure, your physician will ask for feedback on the level of heat sensation to help balance your comfort with maximum results. Some patients may feel a mild or moderate pain during the treatment. After treatment, your skin may be slightly red, but most people resume regular activities immediately after treatment. There’s typically little to no recovery time, and no special follow-up care required.
Are there common side effects?
Some patients have temporary redness or minor swelling after treatment, and this usually goes away within 24 hours.
How long before I can get back to my normal activities?
Most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment. No special care is required afterward, aside from basic skin maintenance and sunscreens as part of a regular skincare regimen.
How long is the treatment?
The duration depends on the size, location and condition of the area to be treated. As a general guide Thermage FLX face treatments may take 30-45 minutes, and larger body areas may take up to 90 minutes. Unlike many other treatments Thermage FLX doesn’t require numbing, which itself can take up to an hour prior to the treatment. Is there any special preparation or follow-up?
No. Unlike surgery, there is no pre-procedure preparation such as blood work or fasting. And there is no special care required after treatment, aside from basic skin maintenance and sunscreens as part of a regular skincare regimen. Since Thermage FLX has little to no downtime, most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment. Some patients exhibit a temporary redness or minor swelling after treatment, and this usually goes away within 24 hours. If you have any concerns about your treatment, see your practitioner.
How does Thermage FLX treatment work?
Thermage FLX uses radiofrequency technology to heat the deep, collagen rich layers of your skin. The heat helps remodel existing collagen and produce new collagen, which improves the smoothness and texture of the skin’s surface. For more information, please visit What to Expect.
How do Thermage FLX results compare with those of other treatments?
Some people want the dramatic results of surgery. Others want the more subtle, gradual results of a non-invasive treatment with little to no downtime. This is where Thermage FLX succeeds, delivering improved skin quality. Think Thermage when lotions and potions are not enough and surgery is too much.
What does Thermage FLX treat?
